Giuseppe Micalizzi PhD is a Research Fellow in Chemistry of the Environment and Cultural Heritage (SSD CHIM/12) at the Department of Chemical, Biological, Pharmaceutical and Environmental Sciences, University of Messina. He received a Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Messina on December 2013. Later, he gained a Research Contract (2014-2015) on the project PON-Ricerca e Competitività 2007-2013 progetto PON4a2_F, BE&SAVE. In November 2019, he obtained a PhD in “Chemical Sciences” at the University of Messina, Italy, with a doctoral thesis entitled “Comprehensive lipidomics profiling in complex real samples using hyphenated chromatography techniques coupled to mass spectrometry detection” under the supervision of Prof. Paola Dugo. In 2019, he was a visiting researcher at the Center of Sport Nutrition Science, University of Physical Education, Budapest, Hungary. From October 2021, he works as a Research Fellow at the Department of Chemical, Biological, Pharmaceutical and Environmental Sciences, University of Messina.
Dr Giuseppe Micalizzi is the author of 39 publications (research articles, book chapters, and reviews), based on the application of advanced analytical techniques applied for the characterization of chemical substances in different matrices such as essential oils, biological fluids and food matrices. He presented his research activities at more than 20 congresses, including international, with oral and poster presentations. He is an active referee of several international peer review journals. His research interests include gas chromatography techniques (GC) coupled with mass spectrometry (single quadrupole, triple quadrupole, high resolution) for the chemical characterization of complex natural matrices. Also, he has paid particular attention to the coupling of GC instrumentation with robotic work-station for automated methodologies of sample preparation.
